General FAQ

Registering your nickname

Your nickname is how people know you on our network, therefor it is wise for your to register your nickname with our services. Registering your nickname allows your to 'own' it and to always get it back if someone else is using it. It also allows you to register channels and send memos. Please note that you are required to provide a valid email during registration, as you will recieve a verification email to confirm your nickname registration.

/msg NickServ REGISTER [password] [email]

Registering a channel

Like nickname registration, channel registeration allows you to 'own' a channel. You can only register a channel if you have a registered nickname, the channel isn't already registered and your are a channel operator (@).

/msg ChanServ REGISTER [channel]

Channel Flags

Our network uses a granular flag based system instead of the more traditional SOP, AOP, VOP system. While there is a learning cruve, it does allow for some powerful channel setups. As a way to transition, we do have TEMPLATES which allow you use a command similar to the more tradition xOP system. Examples are below. These are just some basic examples, use /msg ChanServ help FLAGS on IRC to get better help.

/msg ChanServ FLAGS [channel] [nickname|hostmask|group] [flags]
/msg ChanServ FLAGS [channel] [nickname|hostmask|group] [VOP|HOP|AOP|SOP]

Some Examples:

/msg ChanServ FLAGS #chat bob +vV
/msg ChanServ FLAGS #chat tom SOP
/msg ChanServ FLAGS #chat chris -*
